From July 3, 2021, in accordance with the so-called Pursuant to the SUP Directive (Single Use Plastic, Directive (EU) 2019/904 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019), the following marking will appear on the packaging of hygiene products such as sanitary napkins and panty liners, tampons or wet wipes:

This directive makes consumers aware of how important an element of our lives is appropriate waste management in order to protect the environment against non-flushable hygiene products entering the sewage system. Ignoring this issue will have consequences in the future that will significantly affect our lives.
The EC Implementing Regulation No. 2020/2151 to the above-mentioned Directive specifies the method of labeling products containing plastics.
The SUP marking graphically informs where products should not be disposed after use and shows the consequences of improper disposal of these products.

It also verbally emphasizes that the product contains plastic.

The essence of these changes is to deal with the problem of generating increasing amounts of plastic waste and the release of plastic waste into the environment, in particular the marine environment.
According to a study carried out measuring beach litter, “plastics account for 80-85% of marine litter in the Union, with single-use plastic items accounting for 50% of total marine litter.” *
For Harper Hygienics products, the Directive covers categories such as wet wipes, wet wipes, sanitary pads and sanitary pads.
Below are examples of products marked in accordance with the EC Implementing Regulation 2020/2151 to the above Directive.
